GA4 is ready to use from October 14, 2020 to track the data in site and app today and in future. The property created under the analytics account after that period will be the default GA4 property type in the google analytics. It is recommended to switch to GA4 from UA for upgraded analysis
For switching to GA4 , all you need to do is to make the list so that you don’t miss things out. Following below instruction will help you to work with GA4.
1. Create a structured GA4 property and list the behaviors that are measured from UA to be tracked in GA4 and set them up.
2. Link them to other platforms like Google Ads.
3. Make the updates of your events for the custom reports and tagging structures.
Google Analytics 4 was released on October 14, 2020 and it is formerly known as “App + Web property”. From 1st July, 2023 GA4 will be the only available Google Analytics to process data from websites and apps
To identify the Google Analytics 4 property, check the property ID under the property name. The GA4 property ID will have only numbers (e.g 4566779), whereas the universal Analytics property ID is abbreviated with UA and then followed by numbers (e.g, UA-1233456)
Data is the most valuable asset for a business. GA4 ensures data accuracy to grow a business. Since GA4 is going to be a standard data analysis in future, we need the continuity in data measurement to gather the information about the user journey in site/app. So, it is recommended to set up GA4 to have a good impact on the growth of many businesses.
Ga4 is used to track the traffic in both website and app together and provide users activity across platforms, emphasizing benefits like Event based analysis, Data driven ROI attribution, Machine learning data’s, Expanded insights, and privacy protection.
GA4 collects information from both website and app platform which is useful for the better understanding of the customer journey. It provides an event based analysis which gives you accurate data measurement. Privacy control can also be compiled such as excluding certain events or properties for ad personalisation
Yes, GA4 is a free tool offered by google to collect the data from your website as well as app and generate the reports to analyze the users onsite activity.
Yes, you can have UA and GA4 together, until you are ready to move to a new version of Google Analytics. Setting up both properties together will not affect the data collection in the UA.
GA4 is the free version of Google Analytics 4th generation which cannot process large amounts of data whereas GA360 is the premium version which can process the higher limits of data collection and provide enterprise level technical support.
Migration to GA4 is easy, yet it needs quite a knowledge in analyzing and structure the required data. First thing to be done is create an GA4 property in parallel with UA Property and manage the user permission and set the property and its data streams. Gather the events that are to be migrated from UA to GA4 and set the conversion goals. Implementation of ecommerce tracking is important. You can later link all the other platforms (Google Adwords, Google Tag Manager etc..) with the GA4 account for better analysis.
Since Google Analytics does not retrieve the data which was processed in the past, it is better to have the GA4 property in parallel with existing analytics. This will help you to analyze the unique user behavior in both website & app for monthly/yearly comparison rather than starting with fresh data which doesn’t have historical data.
If you want to track site & app traffic simultaneously it is good to create a GA4 property by using GA4 setup assistant and create at least 3 data streams: one for website and each one for android app, and the iOS app. To gather information from the website you must configure the tag either directly to the site or using GTM and for the app add SDK. Once you set up GA4, the number of events the user triggered and conversion values are gathered in GA4. Now you can choose the metrics and dimensions depending on the requirement to retrieve that data.
Yes, Google Analytics 3rd version (Universal Analytics) and 4th version(GA4) is currently available but UA will officially stop processing on July 1, 2023. Switching to the alternative one(GA4) is highly recommended to collect the historical data’s of the events.
Universal Analytics is the 3rd generation or previous version of Google Analytics. It uses USER ID to track the user’s journey, who enters from different devices. UA was the default property type for the clients who created their account before 14th October, 2020
